To be awarded to the retailer who the judges feel has provided the most significant development and innovative contribution to the retail sector through a new product offer, format, retail method or management system.

•    Stock rotation strategy & delivery system

Developer of the year
To be awarded to the real estate development company that the judges feel has made the most beneficial contribution to European retail development, and whose schemes have overall had the most impact and contribution to European retail offer. Both for refurbishment and regeneration of existing schemes and development of new schemes, at opening stage and design stage.

Criteria:
•    Merchandising plan: Innovation, quality target level, improvement in customer care, level of service, diversity of offer & design excellence
•    What are the goals & objectives for this project, and have they been achieved?
•    How were the construction/technical challenges tackled and what improved standards in the area of design and construction were established?
•    If existing shopping centre: previous physical conditions, sales, tenant mix, vacancy factor?

Best shopping centre of the year
To be awarded to the developer or consultant (or team) who the judges feel have provided the most innovative or unique physical development that has aided the retailer to enhance its service product offer or overall sales.

Criteria:
•    Originality of the concept
•    Technical and architectural qualities
•    Environmental integration of the site
•    Services offered
•    Infrastructures & transport access
•    Viability of the operation: How did the project meet financial targets for both rental and capital performance?
•    Environmental and sustainable qualities
•    Occupancy levels on opening
•    Tenant attraction and mix
•    Investor interest (if applicable)

Submission conditions:
Shopping centre/Mixed-use project has to be opened, filling up rate of the shopping centre by retailers. Open to mixed-use projects where retail occupies at least 25% of the overall floor space.

National agent/consultant of the year
To be awarded to the property consultant/broker who the judges feel has provided the best overall national contribution – through consultancy and advice provision to retailers, developers, financiers and the public sector; transaction facilitation; retail outlet management; and market growth facilitation.

This entry should be accompanied by a case study that explains how the agent has benefited one particular project – this could be through various ways, such as participation in a specific development project; advice on regeneration/refurbishment or improved occupancy mix of an existing retail scheme; specific assistance to enable expansion of a retailer’s brand or store numbers or key involvement in a specific letting or investment deal.

To be awarded to the property consultant/broker who the judges feel has provided the best overall international contribution – through consultancy and advice provision to retailers, developers, financiers and the public sector; transaction facilitation; retail outlet management; and market growth facilitation.

This entry should be accompanied by a case study that explains how the agent has benefited one particular project or a number of related projects over a multi-national sphere – this could be through various ways such as participation in a specific development programme throughout Europe; advice to a regeneration/refurbishment or improved occupancy mix of an existing retail portfolio; specific assistance to enable expansion of a retailer’s brand or store numbers over more than one country or key involvement in a global letting programme or investment deal.

To be awarded to the developer, consultant or team whose retail project is deemed by the judges to be an environmentally beneficial addition to the retail provision – be it in terms of eco-design, location, occupiers, community contribution, regeneration benefits, eco-friendly stock and supply logistic channels, ease of access for non-private vehicles and physical carbon footprint.

Criteria:
•    Energy efficiency per employee: Total direct GHG emissions (metric tonnes CO² equivalent), total water use (m³), total energy consumption (GJ), total waste generation (metric tonnes)
•    Integration in the surrounding environment
•    Sustainable sites
•    Waste/pollution control
•    Material & Resources used
•    Indoor Environmental Quality

Urban regeneration initiative of the year
Awarded to the public sector/municipal body whose master plan for physical and economic regeneration of a specific geographical location within which retail development plays a significant role.

Criteria:
•    Integration of retail in global urban politic?
•    How did the city integrate retail in the global master plan?

Judging all program/development initiatives, considering a program can be completed in 10/20 years.

To be awarded to the bank, financial institution or investment house that the judges feel has aided retail development to the most beneficial degree.

Awarded to the individual the judges feel has made the most significant contribution to the European retail real estate progress.
